A little good news
The past few days have been a little rocky for America, so I figured it was time to share a little good news. Besides doodling my way through this election, I also had my final post op follow-up until the new year!
All of that ankle work has finally paid off. My doctor was surprised at my range of motion, so giant gold star to my physical therapist. The verdict? Two weeks to go from partial weight bearing (a strange form of crutch-walking) to walking on my own with a sneaker!!
Now on my second day of crutch-walking like a crazy, I can say that this is definitely the most painful part of the procedure. I have had very little pain, even right after surgery, up until now. My foot has some strange pins and needles going on (normal) and the left side of my ankle hates me. But, progress!!

Finally we get to add some cool new "exercises" to my regimen! Besides the usual marble pick up, ankle mobility, and hip strengthening, we are now doing some small weight bearing work. The main one of these is shifting my weight back and forth, resting it partially on my bad leg for 10 seconds each time.
This weekend, my physical therapist would like me to go from two crutches to one, which is only slightly more awkward looking than walking with two. We will see how it goes!
