Still A Runner
I started this blog over 4 years ago to animate my marathon training, and I've been posting regularly ever since. Until this spring.
Plagued with on-going injuries that made high mileage impossible, I took the last few months to run casually for fun. Undocumented, quietly, with friends and on my own.
For the first time in nearly a decade, I found myself without a goal race or training group. I've missed the structure and the ritual, but I am ok with it. Stepping away from the hamster wheel of marathoning has allowed me to explore other aspects of myself- and carve out time for things that will make me a stronger runner down the road.
Things like meditation, learning to cook, and regular strength training will help bolster my mind and body for longer runs this fall. Until then, I'm listening to my body. Going out for runs each week, walking when I need to, and skipping when I want to. I'm still a runner, and wherever you are in your running journey, be it your first time or hundredth, so are you.
