One week to go!
Well, here we are! One week out from the 22nd. A date that has been circled in my training journal and highlighted on my calendar. Run day.
And I am ready. Strong, pain free, and beyond excited to kiss the elliptical goodbye. Just one hitch...
Last night, as I was talking to my physical therapist, it dawned on me that i have no idea what i am doing. I know how to run, sure, but I don't know how to re-run.
How do you start running for the first time, all over again?
Do I run/walk? For how long? How often? It feels strange to be so intensely guided by surgeons and therapists, to all of a sudden be left to my own devices. Good thing I've learned my lessons- slow and steady may not win the race, but it gets you to the starting line.
How to train, when you literally can't even Part 10
I am all about the swimming, now that I have a swim buddy to hold me accountable. Training is more fun when there are friends around. Starting next week, PT will including jumping exercises, and supervised treadmill runs.
On my own time, I'll be adopting run/walk. It was suggested to me that I do 10 minutes, everyday. I am nervous about the everyday part, considering back-to-back running days always lands me with stress reactions, but I'll play it by ear.
Have a favorite run/walk interval app? A better idea for getting back into running? Let me know! I am always looking for suggestions :)
Till next week eeeeeek!!!!
